There she stood. Unrecognizable. Or at least in recent years.
Sure her physical traits and features are the same. But that’s the only thing. Unless you truly
and deeply know her heart. Have witnessed her pain, her joy, her evolution.
She walks sometimes quickly, but prefers to move more slowly, more gracefully, more
intentionally these days. Carefully observing with child-like curiosity the sights, the sounds, the
smells, the facial features and body language of those around her. And especially searching for
the deeper meaning, in each interaction from the casual exchange at the grocery check out to
the phone call with a beloved or a coffee date with a friend.
The years, they say, are long, but the moments are brief. Flashes of tears shared,
uncontrollable laughter, a song that stings when she hears it again some time later. Transported
right back to that moment. But today, today she stops and she recognizes that it's a moment to
cherish. Taking a mental snapshot, noticing in her body what she feels in that very moment.
She experiences gratitude more fully. Appreciating all that brought her to this place.
Understanding that in this awakened sense of self, there is both light and darkness. Duality.
Her heart often explodes with immeasurable love. Love for what was. For what is. For what’s
to come.
So she stands there, here, open hearted and free.
